Tours for Cruisers
Pompeii & Vesuvius
Tour Description
A tour dedicated to discovering the ruins of Pompeii and the majesty of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that forever changed the history of the region. Founded in the 7th–6th century BC by the Oscans, Pompeii became a Roman colony in 80 BC after a rebellion against the Roman Republic. At the time of its destruction, the city had around 11,000 inhabitants and featured a complex water system, an amphitheater, a gymnasium, and a port.
The eruption of 79 AD buried the city under tons of ash, killing its inhabitants and preserving buildings, objects, and even the exact positions of people at the moment of death through plaster casts. This extraordinary preservation offers a detailed insight into daily life during the Pax Romana.
The tour continues with a visit to Mount Vesuvius, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples and gain a deeper understanding of the power of the volcano that shaped the region’s history.
